Capitalization of the word God

Do we, as non-believers, need to capitalize the word God when writing about a non-existent being?  Please feel free to respond.

don't believe in the gods or God or god is all the same.  unsuperstitious.  capitalize to mean the bible god if you feel like it but no worries, we shouldn't have need for the word god or God.

I think atheists can safely use god without worrying about capitalization.

not sure who is all on Facebook. when i update my status it caps for me. not appreciating that at all. i intentionally type it in lower case.
