Officially Atheist was created because of a lack of websites that offered communication amongst humanists, non-believers, athiests, secularist, the religious ....etc.

When we created this site we wanted it to be a place for these things to take place:

1. A place for people of all belief systems to meet others who share their beliefs.
2. Learn from others who share your views and oppose your views.
3. Teach people who want to learn about a certain belief system or other intereting topics.
4. Share views about a variety of topics and see where you differ from other view points to be able to refine your beliefs so they are sound.
5. Debate view points and belief systems to calmly publicize both sides of a given topic so other members/visitors can make an educated decision on where they stand.

A few things that this site is not:

1. A place to harass or attempt to marginalize people because of their beliefs.
2. A place to get personal when a debate is not in your favor.
3. A place to spam or post information that is unrelated to the subjects surrounding religions, beliefs, faith, and science.
4. A place that is attempting to convert you.
